LTC Col (Ret) Lester Clifton Fogg, Jr. passed away unexpectedly on November 28, 2012. He was born in South Portland, Maine on August 9, 1934 to Lester C. Fogg, Sr. and Elizabeth Sturgis Fogg. He graduated from South Portland High School and the University of Maine where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree and was enrolled in The Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) to pursue his life calling as a commissioned officer in the United States armed forces. Additionally, he was a 2-year letterman in Golf and an active member of Sigma Alpha Fraternity while at UM.

He graduated ROTC and was commissioned in the Army as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1956. During his 21 year military career, he attended various training schools to advance his career; many of which included Officer Basic School, Command and General Staff College, and the Special Warfare School. He served his country honorably during his 21 year military career and served valiantly in the Vietnam War. He earned numerous medals and awards during his years of service which included the Air Medal, Bronze Star, the Army Commendation Medal (twice), the Vietnam Conflict Medal, several Meritorious Service Medals and the Firefly Mission Award. Upon retirement from the United States Army, he continued his government service within the Civil Service sector. He was an active member of Desert View Church UCC where he served as Financial Secretary and Head Usher.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jane Sweet Fogg, his college sweetheart, of Waterville, Maine. His sister, Carolyn E. Fogg of El Paso; his sons, John A. Fogg and his wife, Shavonne of The Woodlands, Texas and David T. Fogg and his wife, Mindy of Dallas, Texas. He leaves one grandson, Stephen L. Fogg of Woodlands, Texas.
He loved his sons greatly and was very so proud of them and their accomplishments in life. He especially loved their wives and enjoyed his annual trips to both Dallas and The Woodlands to visit his family. He particularly enjoyed spending time with his only grandson who he was extremely proud of.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Funeraria Del Angel Martin East at 12:00 pm followed by burial at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
