RUBEN GONZALES Obituary
Ruben M. Gonzales, 68, of Chamberino, New Mexico passed away on Monday, October 7, 2013. He was born to Francisco and Emma Gonzales on March 12, 1945. He was brought into this world by his paternal grandmother, Maria P. Gonzales, midwife. Ruben's lifelong passion was baseball. He started playing ball when he was five years old (under the wings of his father, Chiriquis) and went on to play and compete in high school baseball where he helped lead his team to the state finals as a catcher. He played semiprofessional baseball for more than 20 years. Ruben loved the outdoors and took great joy in taking his four daughters camping every summer. He took great pride of his home always making sure that everything was in order and in good repair. He is survived by his wife, Gloria; daughters, Denise and Franceen Gonzales, Erica Gonzales Goto, and Hyde M. Gonzales-Sanchez; seven grandchildren, Christiel Ruben Gonzales, Taja Janae and Maya Rosario Haley, Meiko Isabella Cazola and Kiyoko Michiko Goto, Emmanuel Francisco and Chole Abigail Sanchez. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Evangeline Martinez, his uncles, Joaquin Gonzalez and Ismael Torres and many cousins. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be on Friday, October 11, 2013 at 7:00 pm at Our Lady of Refuge Mission Church in La Union, New Mexico. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 11:30 am at San Luis Rey Church in Chamberino, New Mexico. Interment will immediately follow at San Luis Rey Cemetery in Chamberino, New Mexico.
