Terezo (Ted) Gardea, 88, passed away on April 5, 2013. As founder and owner of Gardea's Well Service, Inc., Ted is widely known for his masterful work as a water well driller and pump installer for over 50 years. Prior to entering the well drilling industry, Ted enlisted in the U.S. Army and was proud to be a veteran of World War II assigned to the China-Burma-India Offensive Theatre of Operation. During the prime of his life, Ted contributed time and resources to support his local community by sponsoring school and summer athletic teams. He also served as a member of the Tornillo ISD School Board; Tornillo Lion's Club and participated for many years as a parishioner of St. Rita's Catholic Church. Known for abundant generosity, humility, work ethic, honesty and quick wit, Ted was totally dedicated to his family and to his work that brought the precious resource of water to farmers, ranchers and municipalities. He never met a stranger and endeared himself to people everywhere. Ted was married to Celia Bonilla Gardea for 60 years and she survives him along with daughters Loretta Aguilar and Corina, Connie and Irene Gardea. Other survivors are two sisters, Margarita Zavala and Celia Ronquillo. Ted also has six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren that love him dearly. Visitation will be Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina with Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, April 12, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at Santa Rita Church, Tornillo, TX.
