Mr. Willard Douglas Picklesimer, 91, passed away on March 25, 2013 in his home in Westway, Texas. He was born on February 22, 1922 in Paintsville, KY. His parents were Franklin Pierce Picklesimer and Ora May Conley Picklesimer. At the age of 22, he was drafted into the United States Navy and served overseas during World War II. He bravely fought during the Philippine Campaign of 1944-45, also known as the Philippine Liberation. After the war, he married and fathered 5 children. His first was Rose Mary Picklesimer, who died shortly after birth. Then, he fathered Alan, Max Douglas, and Phillip Picklesimer. Later, he fathered two more sons, Shawn and Wade Douglas Picklesimer. In 1972, he married Maria de la Luz Martinez. They made their residence in Westway, Texas. He and Maria raised four daughters: Rose Marie Eddy Limones, Lorie Anne Eddy and Cindy Lou Eddy Rodriguez, Nelda Eddy Delgado. He worked many years as a long distance truck driver and they also owned and ran a family business, D&L Alternators, in Anthony, Texas. His sons-in-law include Miguel Limones, Rudy and Jaime Rodriguez, Raul Delgado. His grandchildren include Melissa Johnson Santana (Oscar), Noemi Limones, Gabriel, Clarissa, Benjamin Aaron, Daniel Andres and David Antonio Rodriguez. He had two great grandchildren: Mely Isabela and Missy Sofia Santana. He also had many friends, including his best friend Ken Bridges and his daughter Karla Smiley. Mr. Picklesimer enjoyed talking to people. He also loved caring for his pets. We will greatly miss him, but we find great comfort and joy that we will be reunited. We would also like to extend our appreciation to all his caregivers, especially Ms. Elizabeth Andreadakis, NP and the entire Team C staff at the El Paso VA Medical Center. Visitation will be held 5pm to 9pm Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Martin Funeral Home Central with a 7pm prayer service. Church Service will be held 11:30am Thursday, March 28, 2013 at First Mexican Baptist Church. Interment to follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
