Margaret Gentry White, 103, of Chamberino, NM passed away on January 24, 2014. She was born in Lincoln, Nebraska on September 17, 1910. Margaret was the last survivor of eight children. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband,Charles (Roy), February 21, 2005 and their daughter, Jane, May 28th, 2000. Mr. White also reached the century mark. Margaret is survived by her seven living children, Juliet Youberg (Chuck), Johnie White (Doris), Charles White (Elvira), Lois Olson (Jim), Tom White (Marlene), Bernice Shamaley (L.J.), and Margaret Bell (Ron), twenty-four grandchildren, and an abundance of great and great-great grandchildren. Margaret came to El Paso in 1933 with her father to visit her two brothers working for Standard Oil with hopes of finding employment during The Great Depression. She did find a job! She married a farmer. Margaret and Roy met at a square dance in Chamberino, near the present farm and family home. They together, raised cotton and alfalfa, cows, chickens, pigs, rabbits and turkeys, oh and kids! What fun we had making memories. We are blessed for and thankful to her caregivers, Norma and Irma, for all their dedication and love to her and our whole family. We will be forever grateful to God for the blessing of Mom for so many years.
