Obituary Condolences

Edna Hatsuko Kurita, 95, passed away peacefully Monday, April 21, 2014. Born January 27, 1919 in Ysleta, Texas, Edna graduated from Ysleta High School and IBC. A caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she spent her life volunteering in her community: on Fort Bliss during WWII; Cub Scout Den Mother; El Paso Opti-Mrs, school VIP (Rusk, Bassett, Coldwell, Austin); El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame. She was preceded in death by her parents Tatsuhe and Sugue Shioji and her husband George I. Kurita Sr. Edna is survived by: brothers Tom (Jo) Shioji of Colorado, and Frank (Grace) Shioji of El Paso, sons Dr. George Jr. (Rosalind) of Tennessee, Samuel (Anita) of California, and Thomas of El Paso, grandchildren Jennifer Villa (Fernando), Nathan (Stephanie), Megan Deere (AJ), Krysta Garcia (Anthony), Kyle, Kenji, and Keiko; great-grandchildren Alec, Jennelle, and Ethan Villa, Bryan and Evan Garcia, Marin and Maddox Kurita, and Carter Deere. The family would like to thank Ruben and Martha Herrera and nurses Aaron, Deanna, and Linda from Mountain View and Laura and Sonia from Hospice for their loving care of Edna in her final weeks. Visitation will be held 5:00-9:00pm, Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Kaster-Maxon & Futrell, 8817 Dyer. Graveside services to be held at 1pm on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Restlawn Memorial Park on Dyer.
