Paul Samuel Ornelas was called into the loving arms of our Lord on Sunday May 11, 2014. Blessed with an extraordinary 34 years of our "Pablito", our amazing son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend will be forever missed. Born March 18, 1980, Paul grew up in El Paso Texas where he graduated from Montwood High School. As a child, Paul experienced a challenging medical condition, spending a lot of time in hospitals and surrounded by health care professionals. This inspired Paul's fascination with the field of medicine. He began pursuing his interest by volunteering with the Montana Vista Fire Department and Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief effort. He became certified as an EMT as well as a certified nursing assistant and licensed vocational nurse. Ultimately, he decided to pursue his passion even further and moved to San Antonio, Texas where he completed his nursing degree in an impressive 3 years, graduating from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Paul also had an entrepreneurial spirit and developed many business endeavors as a youth, one of the most memorable being his disco, All Universal Sounds. Paul is survived by his parents, Henry and Rebecca Ornelas, his sisters Michelle Ornelas-Torres and Valerie Ornelas, his brother-in-law Victor Torres, nephew Samuel and niece Olivia-Grace, grandfather Jose Ornelas; his godparents Lawrence and Martha Cano, and honorary grandparents Leonard and Bertha Gutierrez. He was preceded in death by his most beloved grandmother, Maria Ornelas. Paul has numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins. Visitation will be held on Friday May 16, 2014 from 5-9 pm with a rosary service at 7 pm at Crestview Chapel in celebration of his life. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday May 17, 2014 at 12 pm at St. Patricks Cathedral. Pall bearers will be Victor Torres, Lawrence Cano Jr, Tony Kraft, Eric Fernandez, Joseph Ornelas, Phillip Ornelas, Aaron Shaw and Daniel Contreras. No words can ever truly express our deep grief over the loss of our dearest son, brother and uncle, but as a family of faith we trust that Paul is in peace at home with our Lord. Services are under the direction of Crestview Funeral Home 1462 N. Zaragosa 856-1400.
