CHARLES MOHLER Obituary
Charles Francis Mohler was born on May 14, 1920 in Martinsburg, West Virginia. He peacefully left this world on May 20, 2014, after a long illness. He was the loving, kind, gentle son of Edith Eversole and Howard Mohler. He graduated from high school in Martinsburg and attended Memphis State University where he earned a Bachelor's degree in History. Graduation from college was immediately followed by joining the Air Force where he served during World War II. He retired from the Air Force Reserve with the rank of Major. Following the war, he was stationed in Charleston, South Carolina, where he met his wife, Betty Margaret Curtis. Charles' job frequently took the family to new territory: Kokomo, Indiana where Debbie and Chuck were born; Columbus, Ohio where Beth was born; El Paso, Newfoundland, Germany, Massachusetts, Guam, and Alaska. After Charles' retirement from the military, he became an education officer with the Air Force Civil Service. When he retired from the civil service, he and Betty returned to El Paso where he started another career as a real estate agent. Charles was a quiet, generous, kind man. He was a devoted family man, always available when needed. He cherished his family and lived a productive, full life. Charles enjoyed the outdoors and in retirement returned to Alaska many times to visit his daughters and fish for salmon. Charles will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He leaves behind his children, Deborah (Ross) Kerns, Charles F. (Mary) Mohler II, and Beth (Francois) Rodigari. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Nicholas, Heather, Elizabeth, Gabriel, Joelle, and Zoe. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty, and grandson Matthew Kerns. A Graveside Service will be at 10:30 AM, Friday, May 23, 2014 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home- Northeast.
