Jose Mendoza Obituary
Jose R. Mendoza, 88, peacefully passed away on May 30, 2014. He was born on March 19, 1923 in Santo Tomas, New Mexico. He was always such a loving, caring, giving, selfless man. Mr. Mendoza is preceded in death by parents: Andres and Luz Mendoza; brothers: Marcos, Lupe and Gregorio Mendoza. He proudly served in the US Army during WWII (1943-1945) in the 102nd Calvary, in the European theater, a two time Purple Heart recipient. He was employed by US Department of Immigration and Naturalization where he served for 25 years. Mr. Mendoza is survived by wife of 62 years Victoria (Vickie) Mendoza; children: Alberto (Norma) Mendoza, Joey (Barbara) Mendoza, Anita (Gina) Mendoza, Sylvia (Chickie) and Danny Torres; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Jose was a devoted husband and father. He loved to see all his children together. He was at his happiest moments when his family was about him. Also enjoyed the outdoors and a reading was his favorite pass time. He will be greatly missed. "Blessed is a man who hears gentile voice calling him father". Our family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of his health care givers at Sierra Hospital for their compassion. Pallbearers: Vincent Mendoza, Raymond Torres, Robert Torres, Danny Salcido, William Reed and Danny Torres. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 3, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina with Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Catholic Church.
