Robert Aubrey Douglas, Jr., LTC US Army Ret. September 12, 1929-June 20, 2014 Robert Aubrey Douglas, Jr., our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to so many, peacefully went to Heaven on Friday, June 20, 2014. Robert was born September 12, 1929 in Hillsboro, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father Robert A. Douglas, Sr., and his mother Areabel Davis Taylor Douglas. Robert is survived by his wife Kay of 29 years and his ex-wife Lyla Lee Kent; son and daughter-in-law Robert A. Douglas III and Betty; daughter and son-in-law, Susan Good and Mike Good, step-son and daughter-in-law Thomas and Gina Robison; step-daughter Cynthia Robison and his best pal and beloved dog Jack. Robert is also survived by eight dearly loved grandchildren, Jessica Good, Chris Good and wife Ashlee, Heather Good Normington and husband Carson, Jean Douglas Porter and husband Kyle, Megan Douglas, Aubrey Douglas, Stephanie Robison Carrasco and husband Tim and Daniel Robison. Robert is also survived by four great-granddaughters, Grace and Brooke Porter, Kadance Normington and Ryan Good. Robert is a graduate of Austin High School and Texas Western College. Upon graduation he entered the US Army where he retired after 20 years of faithful service as a Artillery and Inspector General Officer. He served our country in Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Germany, Panama and other locations around the world. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Two OLC; Meritorious Service Medal with first OLC; National Defense Service Medal with First OLC; Armed Forces Reserve Medal; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Republic of Vietnam Campaign with Service, and Air Medal. Upon Robert's retirement from the Army, he spent much of the next 15 to 20 years in banking as a loan officer and vice president at the El Paso National Bank Corporation (Now JP Morgan Chase) and at Montwood National Bank. When Robert retired the second time, he and his wife Kay became fulltime RVers and over the next 15 years spent many happy days touring the USA and making many dear friends during their travels throughout the United States. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the many doctors and facilities who took such good care of Robert in his later years-especially Dr. Roger Belbel and Dr. Kenneth Eisenberg, the staff in the Cardiac Care Units of Del Sol and Las Palmas hospitals and the staff at Regent Care Center and Hospice of El Paso. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 25th from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the San Jose Funeral Home-East, 10950 Pellicano Dr. in El Paso, Texas. The celebration of the life of Robert Douglas will be held Wednesday, June 25th at 11:00 a.m. at the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 11299 Pebble Hills Boulevard, El Paso, TX. A private family interment will take place at Fort Bliss National Cemetery June 26thwith full military honors. In Lieu of flowers, the family requested that donation be made to .
