Obituary Condolences Flowers

Guadalupe "Lupe" A. Velasquez, devoted wife, loving mother and doting grandmother, went to join our Lord Jesus Christ on June 25, 2014. She was a life long resident of El Paso and a devout Catholic. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Ignacio "Nacho" P. Velasquez, whom she married on February 13, 1949. She is also survived by her 3 children Anna Maria, Jesse (spouse Irma) of El Paso and Joe Velasquez of Dallas, TX. Mrs. Velasquez has 3 adoring grandchildren - Christopher Jesse, Marianne (spouse Richard A. Baeza) and Kristine Andrea. She was born in San Nicholas de Carretas, Mexico on November 01, 1923, moved to Juarez, Chih., Mexico as a child and then to El Paso upon marrying Nacho. She dedicated her life to her husband, children and family, both immediate and extended. She attended Mass daily for the majority of her life. She enjoyed maintaining her home, garden and entertaining. Upon Nacho's retirement from John D. Williams Insurance Co. in 1986, they enjoyed traveling accompanied by her daughter Anna and her cherished granddaughter Marianne. She was preceded in death by her parents Geronimo and Mariana Reyes Anchondo, her siblings Amalia de la Parra, Cipriano, Salvador, Momo, Ernesto and a very special sister-law Concepcion Anchondo. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Martha Limas and Beatrice Angiano both of El Paso; her brother-in-law Alfred Velasquez of Denver, CO. and a host of nieces of nephews. The family wishes to thank her physicians - Michael Velasquez and Ka C. Wong - her primary care-giver Soledad Muñoz, her night sitters (Alexis, Laura & Sandra), the staff of New Mission Home Health Care (Martha, Josie & Steve) and the staff at Gentiva Hospice. Visitation will be Thursday June 26th from 5 p.m. to 9p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 7p.m. at FDA Kaster-Maxon Futrell Funeral home. Funeral mass will be at St. Raphael's Catholic Parish on Friday, June 27th at 1:00 p.m. and followed by burial at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Pallbearers: Christopher Velasquez, Richard A. Baeza, David Mendivil, Jesus Anchondo, Gilbert Anchondo and Gilberto de la Parra, Sr. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of El Paso or the .
