Obituary Condolences

Rudy Hody Ortiz, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2014 at the age of 83. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Rudy served his country as a medic in the United States Navy. He completed his Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Education at Texas Western College of Mines. He taught in the El Paso Independent School District and later served as the Dean of Adult and Continuing Education Programs at El Paso Community College. Rudy retired after 22 years as the Assistant Director of the Small Business Administration. He was a member of the Kiwanis. He will always be remembered for his outgoing and friendly personality. He was preceded in death by his sister Elia Fenlon. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Elvira Ortiz, his brother Ray Ortiz (Carmen) and his sons Luis (Marilyn), Rafael (Flor), Gabriel (Gwyn), Mark (Margaret) and Rudy (Brenda) and grandchildren: Cameron, Christina, Michael, Sophia and Marisa Ortiz. A very special thanks to Dr. Dionicio "Manny" Alvarez, Cynthia Guillen, and Estela Chavarria. Visitation will be held Sunday June 29, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary service at 7:00 p.m. at Harding, Orr & McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel, 320 Montana Ave. Funeral Services will be held Monday June 30, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Cathedral followed by internment at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
