ALICIA MARQUEZ Obituary
On Tuesday, June 24, 2014 our mother was embraced by God, parents; Jeronimo and Agustina Jaquez, and her siblings; Enrique, Consuelo, Pedro, Aurora, and Guillermo. Our Beloved Alicia J Marquez (Licha), 86, was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. In her younger years she was an avid basketball player and an accomplished telephone operator in her hometown of Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. In 1950 she married our dear father Miguel P. Marquez (Mike) in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Together for 63 years, they made their home in El Paso, Texas and raised four children: Hortencia Martinez (Armando), Alicia Terrazas (Edmundo), Miguel Marquez (Mary), and Luis Marquez. They were subsequently blessed with 8 Grandchildren and 7 Great-Grandchildren. She also loved her nephews, nieces, siblings; Amparo Martinez and Leonor Jaquez and other family members. Our Mother was blessed with many special gifts; a wonderful sense of humor, compassion, and an extraordinary memory. She was our "Family Calendar", never forgetting any family member's birthdays and or age. She enjoyed and loved family festivities, being a participating member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, reading the Church's newsletters, solving word search puzzles, listening to music, attending baseball games at Dodger Stadium, and watching the Boston Celtics on television Visitation will be on Sunday, June 29, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at San Jose Funeral Home-East, with recitation of the rosary at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be on Monday, June 30, 2014 at Our Lady of Guadalupe at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Memorial Pines Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, our Mother's wish was that monies be donated to any charity and or church that mainly assists the needy. We, the Marquez Family would like to thank Hospice El Paso Center for Compassionate Care-West and the Oncology Dept. of Sierra Medical Center for their unwavering care of our beloved Mother.
