Obituary Condolences

On August 9th 2014 at 1:39pm God came into the hospital and took a precious angel to be in his presence. Rita Devorn Harris was born on August 25, 1957 to the Late Linda Ann Johnson and Shelby Johnson who both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother Ray Prickett, brother - in- law Charles Benson, sister-in-law Wille Mae. Rita attended Crystal Springs High School in Crystal Springs, MS. Later on down the line she went and graduated from College Career Center in El Paso, Texas with a degree in Medical Administration. Rita worked at Elcom for 15 years. Rita joined New Zion United Methodist Church at an early age in Crystal Springs, MS. At the age of 17 she married Roy Lee Harris and traveled to different states of being a Military wife. On October 19, 1974 Rita married the love of her life Roy Lee Harris. They were married for 39 years and 10 months and to that union 3 children were born: Jacques (Carla), Jara (Elsa) and Shavon all of El Paso, Texas; One step daughter Kimberly Moore of Jackson, MS; 4 brothers, Ray Prickett and Shelby Thorton preceded her in death, Clevis (Sita) of Hazelhurst, MS, Vince (Lynn) of Crystal Springs, MS; 4 sisters, Valarie, Cindy (Kenny), Venessa and Connie McGowan all of Crystal Springs, MS; 4 sisters in law, Sandra Pickett of Crystal Springs, MS, Marylee Harris of Crystal Springs, MS, Puline Harris of Chicago, IL, Linda (Jack) Sturgis of Detriot, MI; 4 grandchildren, Jawan, Javon, Amelia, Raejay; 8 step grandchildren, Mariah, David, Marquis, Era, Jeanine, Steve, Princess, Angel; 1 step great grandchild, Aden; 10 aunts; 6 uncles; 2 great aunts; 1 great uncle and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Visitation: 4:00pm to 9:00pm with a Prayer Service at 7:00pm on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Funeral Service: 12 noon on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Northeast Bible Fellowship Church. Committal Service will follow at 1:30pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
