Kenneth Paul Persinger, 68, passed away Tuesday, December 15. Born June 6, 1941 in El Paso, Ken attended Austin High School until his Senior year, enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and, upon completion of his tour of duty, began a long-term career with Southern Pacific Railroad. He was predeceased by his beloved stepfather, Carl Cornett. He is survived by his mother, Mary Cornett; son, Kenneth Carl Persinger (Leslie) of El Paso and the true loves of his life, granddaughters Satori, Claire and Piper; stepson, Richard Haight (Lisa) of Lewisville, Texas; sister, Sue Bitticks (Gene) and niece, Shannon Pierce (Cody); uncle, Howard Kenneth Harris (Barbara); numerous other family members, including Kelcey Land (Kayla) of Coppell, Texas, Doris Land and Lisa Tisdale (John) of McKinney, Texas; and a multitude of friends. He will be missed by all. Ken may have "worn many hats" at various stages of his life, but the one stating "I'm the Grandpa" was his favorite. Special thanks to all of the doctors who treated him and a special thanks to Dr. John Taylor for his kind efforts and to Pastor Dave for welcoming Ken into his ministry. Memorial service at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, Hillcrest Funeral Home - West, 5054 Doniphan, with Pastor Dave Ratzlaff officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Church of Grace, 851 Thorn Ave. El Paso, Texas 79912.]
