GAUGER Elmer William Gauger, 91, was born and raised in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Died as Pearl Harbor survivor August 6, 2011. Joined the Navy and after enlistment period was over, changed over to the Army, tho the Navy was always his first love. Elmer retired from the Army as Master Sergeant in 1963. He also served two terms in Korea during the war. Served on the U.S. Pennsylvania while in the Navy for most of his naval service. Elmer founded the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association as President and attended the latest and last Pearl Harbor Reunion in Hawaii December 2010. Elmer was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church, and an avid golf fan and Green Bay Packers Fan. He is survived by his wife Charlotte, and one brother George in Tallahassee, Florida, 2 nieces Lisa and Karan, two nephews Geoff and Bradly in Tallahassee. Also surviving step-daughter Ellen, two step-grandchildren Julie and Lance, and two step-great grandchildren Lainey and Ryan residing in Orlando. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 10, 2011 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina. Graveside Service will be Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Ft Bliss National Cemetery.
