Sharon Kay Fischer, 68, passed away on February 18, 2012. Born in El Paso, Texas, she graduated from Bel Air High School and received a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from UTEP. She was an instructor of Psychology at El Paso Community College for 20 years. She learned to ride horses as a child on her grandparents' ranch in New Mexico and continued her love of animals and gardening throughout her life. Despite the physical challenges caused by polio at age 8, she never saw herself as handicapped. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Marie Fischer. She is survived by cousins, Bill Ward from Loveland, CO; Fern Sawyer Ward from Ruidoso, NM; Scharbauer Ward from Nogal, NM; Lori P. Swafford from Highlands Ranch, CO; James Dodgen, Jr. from Running Springs, CA. and Charles Dodgen from Washington. D.C. Sharon will be dearly missed -- gentle soul, intelligent lady, good friend and teacher. Cremation conducted by San Jose Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, March 2, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Horizon City, 17018 Darrington Rd. in Horizon City, Texas. Pastor Wes Phillips will preside.
