Obituary Condolences

McIVER Viola K. McIver, age 93, of El Paso, Texas passed away on March 26, 2012. Beloved wife to Alton R. McIver. Loving mother of Randy McIver, John McIver and Kathy Sanderlin. Proud grandparent of Carter Skye McIver, Steven McIver, Lorraine McIver, Vera Sanderlin, Viola Sanderlin, Virginia Sanderlin and Vicky Sanderlin. She also raised her nieces Terry Turner and Barbara Grisham. She was born, Viola May, in Lexington, Nebraska, on June 6, 1918 to Ozwald and Ella Kampfe. She is preceded in death by her brother Marion Kampfe, her husband, Alton, and her sisters, Vera Smith, and Florence "Bootzy" Kunz. She and her sisters attended the Music Conservatory in Grand Island where they performed as a piano trio with her playing the viola. She attended Hastings College in Grand Island NE. She then worked as a court stenographer in Washington D.C., where she met Alton McIver DDS, an Army Air Corp officer. They were married 1943 during WWII. They were married for 49 years living in Japan, Philippines, Tucson and they retired from the Air Force in El Paso in 1965. She became a Life Master Bridge player and was their 1972 Queen of Hearts at the El Paso Bridge club. She served as a docent at the El Paso Museum of Art. She was in the Pen Crafters Calligraphy Guild, Embroidery Guild, Quilters Guild and enjoyed going to the El Paso Symphony Orchestra with her friends who shared those arts with her. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and active in the Woman's group. Viola was always especially creative and took everything to the next level of excellence. She was loving and giving to those around her. She is so dearly loved and will be missed by everyone whose lives have been touched by her presence. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 1st from 12:30 to 3:30 pm and the funeral service will be held on Monday, April 2nd at 1:30 pm at the Funeraria De Angel Kaster-Maxon and Futrell Chapel at 8817 Dyer in El Paso, Texas. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
