Thomas Nelson was born in Chicago, Ill, moved to Detroit, MI and finally ended up in El Paso for the past 30 plus years. He passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2013. Tommy enjoyed gardening, cooking, kids and dogs. Kids and dogs loved him and he had a special way with them. He was gentle and kind to them and he had a lot of patience. Tom struggled in life due to a severe hearing loss and this caused him great hardship, connecting with other people. Tommy was a sensitive man but you wouldn't think that by looking at him, he was tough on the outside but soft on the inside. He loved his family and he always said "I love you," after every telephone call. Tommy was preceded in death by his father Thomas Ray Nelson, his mother Jerrie Nelson, and his sister Angela Nelson. Tommy, God now has you and you are safe and protected and you will never be alone. You are loved and you will be missed very much. Rest in peace Tom and we'll see you in our dreams. Tom is survived by his wife, Denise Connelly-Nelson, his stepchildren, his stepfather, Ron Tolman, and his two sisters, Dorie Fimon and Laurie Walker and his nieces and nephews. His viewing will be held at the San Jose Funeral Home at 601 South Virginia St., on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 from 7:00p.m.-9:00p.m
