Pedro Arturo Burton Jr. passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at the age of 64. Those closest knew him simply as Pete. He was born June 20, 1949. Pete enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1968 and proudly served in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1974. Pete attended the University of Texas at El Paso, earning a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. He went on to have a long, fulfilling career in Law Enforcement. He continued his dedication to the community with several outreach and volunteer efforts throughout El Paso including: The Red Cross, Victory Outreach, Providence Memorial Hospital, Jesus Chapel, Rose of Sharon and countless others. His passion was to help those in need and focused much of his efforts mentoring troubled youth. A true servant of the Lord, Pete would never turn anyone away. He was quick to offer a caring ear, a gentle smile and encouraging words. Those fortunate enough to know Pete were touched by his giving spirit and warm heart. He was a devoted friend that could be counted on at any time and was truly a blessing to all who came to know him. He was preceded in death by his father Pedro A Burton Sr., his mother Alicia Anchondo and sister Leticia Burton. He is proudly survived by his sister Alicia Burton: daughter Monica Williams: son Aaron Burton: grandchildren Tiah Williams, Matthew Williams and Andrew Burton. His family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of William Beaumont Army Medical Center that cared for him in his final weeks. A very special thanks to the nurses and staff at Hospice of El Paso, you gave Pete peace and dignity during his final moments, for that we are forever thankful. A celebration of his life and viewing will be held Monday July 15th from 5 - 9p.m. at San Jose Funeral Home on Pellicano Dr. A funeral service will be held Tuesday July 15th at 12p.m. at San Jose Funeral Home followed by interment at 2:30 p.m. at Fort Bliss Cemetery.
