James Fredrick Murphy passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 7, 2013. He was was born on June 16, 1938 in El Paso, TX and was known as "Fred" his entire life. Fred graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso where he earned a Business degree. He spent his entire career in the garment industry. As a young man, he worked his way up the ranks at Farah Manufacturing to become Vice President of the company before accepting a Senior Vice President position at Billy the Kid, Inc. Fred also was Vice President in charge of 807 Operations at Sun Apparel before he moved on to start his own set of garment manufacturing companies. Fred owned and operated S.E.W International 807 and Garment Finishers International before retiring in 2002. But, even during his retirement years, Fred served as a consultant for many garment manufacturing companies. He was devoted to his career his entire life. Fred was an avid tennis and handball player, winning several Handball matches over the years. He also loved to spend his free time fishing, a passion he passed on to his sons and grandsons. After spending his entire life in El Paso, Fred and his wife, Yolande, relocated to San Antonio, TX in 2004 to be closer to their children. Fred is survived by his devoted wife Yolande Murphy of San Antonio, TX, a daughter, Joy Dee Ankrom of San Antonio, TX, and his twin sons, Marc Murphy of Darien, CT, and Robbin Murphy of Houston, TX. Additionally, Fred is survived by his wonderful grandchildren whom he adored, Grayson Ankrom and Stayton Ankrom of San Antonio, TX, Cyril Murphy and Abigail Murphy of Darien, CT, and Mackenzie Murphy and Marcus Murphy of Houston, TX. Fred is also survived by his brother,Geoff Murphy of Abilene, TX. A private memorial service will be held for family.
