HENRY JOSEPH BACA passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the age of 54 surrounded by his family. He was born in August of 1959 in the small town of Springer, New Mexico. Henry graduated Salutatorian from Roy High School in 1978; he then set out for the University of Notre Dame. Graduating from Notre Dame in 1982, Henry headed to the University of New Mexico where he obtained his Juris Doctorate in 1985. Ambitious and driven, he started a private practice of criminal law in 1986 in Las Cruces, New Mexico, defending and helping people from all walks of life for over 18 years. Henry was diagnosed on June 13, 2012 with Glioblastoma Multiforme, terminal brain cancer. Determined to fight, he overcame two surgeries, radiation, and chemotherapy. He is survived by his wife Shirley and daughter Gabrielle Nicole. Parents: Sacramento and Bertha Rose Baca, Siblings: Matthew (Jennifer), Elaine, Jaime, CSP, and Jason. Preceded in death by Grandparents: Sacramento and Ane L. Baca and Rojelio and Josephine Gonzalez. Visitation will be Thursday, September 19, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home ? West with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Memorial Mass will be Friday, September 20, 2013 at St. Luke Catholic Church.
