WILMA ARNETT

Wilma Jean Watkins Arnett, 82, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend passed away August 29th, 2014 at Center for Compassionate Care Hospice in El Paso, Texas. Wilma was born on September 19th, 1931 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Charlie Watkins and Alice Nichols Ingle. Her grandparents were Arlie and Ona Nichols. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Watkins and Alice Nichols Ingle; in-laws, Claude and Myrtle Gandy Arnett and granddaughter Joni Sue Arnett. The Arnett family is a pioneer family in the thoroughbred and quarter horse industry in New Mexico and Arizona. They have one of the most successful racehorse training operations in the history of New Mexico. Wilma was respected for her very generous nature, hard work and dedication. Survived by her husband Bob Arnett and their children Eddie (Amy), Bobbette Montes (Gilbert), Jon (Susan), and also grandchildren, Bobby (Ana), Manon, J.R. (Felicia), and Andre Montes, along with great grandchildren William, Victoria, Brett, Preston and Sydney. Her husband and family will miss her greatly and are comforted in the knowledge that she is at peace in the house of the Lord. Bob thanks their daughter Bobbette Montes for retiring to help take care of Wilma. The family thanks family members Jenny Lynn Shumake, Abe Gandy, Ann Parker, and Patty Padilla and friends. With special thanks to the following; Areli Raya, Vicky and Kathy Rausch, Marita Graham, Sonja Surratt, Zolene Knott, Wilma Voigt, Leon Harris, Laura and Anna Marie Griego, and Maria Fisher for their love, support and prayers. Special thanks and gratitude to Dr. E. Juarez and Dr. O. Aguilar, and to all personnel at Home Care of Dona, Las Palmas Hospital, Amerita, and Center for Compassionate Care that attended to Wilma. The family asks that donations in Wilma's memory be made to Center for Compassionate Care West Hospice located at The Monte Vista at Coronado, 1575 Belvidere Avenue, El Paso, Texas 79912. A memorial will be held at a later date.
