Sibole, Donald L.  
Donald L. Sibole, 77, Washington, passed away Friday, March 20, 2015, at Cedarcrest Manor, Washington. Don was born Feb. 21, 1938, in St. Clair, the son of the late Rev. William "Earl" Sibole and wife Orpha Grace, nee Wideman. He received his education in St. Clair, and graduated from St. Clair High School in 1956. Don was united in marriage to Joyce Ann Hoelscher Dec. 27, 1958, in St. Clair. They were happily married for 57 years and were blessed with three children. Don was a Christian and member of First Baptist Church, Washington. He was a member of the choir, choir director, Sunday school teacher, superintendent of Sunday school, and a deacon of the church. Don was currently a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Washington. Don worked for Plez Lewis Construction Company, St. Clair, and Swift Food Company, Union. Don was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1962 and served until 1964. He received an honorable discharge July 31, 1968, a testimonial of his honest and faithful service to his country. After his discharge, Don was employed by Ramsey Piston Rings, also known as the Dana Corporation in its later years, where he worked as a Union machinist for 36 years when he retired. After being retired for one year, Don went to work for Mercy Hospital Washington for three years, retiring a second time. Don was a member of American Legion Post 218, where he served as second and first vice commander, and commander for three terms. He also served on the Honor Guard. Don was currently a member of Post 297, Union. Don was introduced to the Franklin County Honor Flight, where he and his wife, Joyce, became very active volunteers. Both served on the board, and had the honor of taking veterans as their guardians to Washington, D.C., to see their memorials. Don enjoyed gardening, woodworking, drawing and model railroading. Don and Joyce opened their Victorian home as a bed and breakfast in the '90s. Their home was on the Christmas house tour in 1992. They enjoyed being the innkeepers. Guests included a couple from as far away as Germany, the Missouri artist Jesse Barnes and wife, and many others from throughout the area who came to enjoy their home filled with family heirlooms, love and joy. Don is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Sibole; one daughter, Patricia Friedel and husband Brian; two sons, Richard Sibole and Daniel Sibole and wife Annabel, nee Haynes; one sister, Judith Calvin and husband Tom; three grandchildren, Brittany Gross and husband Greggory, Sarena Sibole and Austin Sibole; two great-grandchildren, Maximus Gross and Alexander Gross; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Orpha Sibole; one sister, JoAnn Sibole; one nephew, Christopher Calvin; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry and Estella, nee Pope, Hoelscher. Visitation will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Washington, Thursday, March 26, from 10 to 11 a.m. A memorial service will follow at the church, beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family or Heartland Hospice Care, Washington.

Smith, Robert "Bob" (Death Notice)  
Funeral services for Robert "Bob" Smith Sr., 73, St. Clair, will be held Sunday, March 29, at 2 p.m., at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair. A private committal will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held prior to the service, from noon to 2 p.m., at the funeral home. Mr. Smith passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015. He is survived by his wife, Mae Leath Smith, nee Mueller, St. Clair; two sons, Robert J. Smith Jr. and partner Dale Jordan, Quincy, Ill., and John Messex, St. Clair; four stepsons, Kenneth Mueller, Richard Leath and wife Becky, and Bobby Leath and wife Maureen, all of St. Clair, and Miles Leath and wife Pam, Richwoods; three stepdaughters, Loretta Archer and husband James, Dixon, Betty Brown and husband Rick, and Christine Fenner and husband Johnny, all of St. Clair; other relatives and many friends. The family is being served by Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair.

Tobiasz, Edward A.  
Edward A. Tobiasz, 83, Warrenton, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015, at St. Joseph Health Center, St. Charles. Edward, an electrician, was born July 25, 1931, in St. Louis, the son of Adam Tobiasz and wife Julia. He was an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Warrenton. Edward will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by four sons, Edward J. (Kim) Tobiasz, Daniel J. Tobiasz, Mark J. Tobiasz and James J. Tobiasz; three daughters, Connie J. Rolph, Mary Ann (Jerry) Overman and Nancy A. Wetzel; two sisters, Helen Martin and Nellie Vogt; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Tobiasz, nee Myerscough; parents, Adam and Julia Tobiasz; one son, Gerald J. Tobiasz; and one granddaughter, Amanda Overman. Visitation was held Sunday, March 22, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Pitman Funeral Home, Warrenton. A funeral service was held Monday, March 23, at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Warrenton. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Memorials to the American Heart Association, in care of Pitman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 126, Warrenton, MO 63383 are preferred. The family was served by Pitman Funeral Home, Warrenton.

Volkerding, Walter G.  
Walter George Volkerding, 90, Marthasville, passed away suddenly Thursday, March 26, 2015, in Marthasville. Walter was born March 5, 1925, in Peers, to the late Leo Volkerding and wife Ellen, nee Duebbert. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Buescher May 13, 1950. They celebrated 64 wonderful years of marriage before Lorraine passed away June 7, 2014. Walter was a lifelong Warren County resident. He was a lifelong farmer. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Walter looked forward to the South Dakota pheasant hunts he went on for 40 years with his sons and grandsons. He loved hunting and being outdoors. He enjoyed gardening. He was his happiest when he was with his family. Walter is survived by two sons, Michael Volkerding and wife Teresa, and John Volkerding and wife Linda; one daughter, Patty Koch and husband Bob; six grandchildren, Jessica, James, Kris, Martha, Amanda and Adam; five great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Drew, Cole, Morgan and Sawyer, and three more on the way. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Lorraine Volkerding; two grandchildren, Nick Volkerding and Allison Koch; and his parents, Leo and Ellen Volkerding. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 29, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home, Marthasville. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 30, at St Ignatius Catholic Church, Concord Hill. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Masses may be said or memorials given to the Concord Hill Tech Fund, in care of Martin Funeral Home, 510 E. Main St., Warrenton, MO 63383. Wondel Sr., Emory  
Emory Wondel Sr., 81, Warrenton, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Peters. He was born July 3, 1933, in Randles, the son of Emory W. Wondel and wife Elizabeth O., nee Surface. Emory was united in marriage to Christina McMillan Dec. 3, 1955, in Oran. They celebrated 59 years of marriage together. Emory served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a farmer by trade and enjoyed working outside. He was a wonderful husband and father. He enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife, Christina Wondel; one son, Emory "Bud" Wondel Jr. and wife Debbie; two brothers, Walter W. Wondel and wife Gladys, and Ronald G. Wondel and wife Norma; two sisters, Betty J. McKee and husband Toledo, and Evelyn Italiano; one sister-in-law, Marvena Wondel; four grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emory and Elizabeth Wondel; one daughter, Pamela (Wondel) Sanders; one brother, Donald Wondel; and one brother-in-law, Vince Italiano. A memorial visitation was held Saturday, March 21, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton. A memorial service directly followed the visitation. Emory will be laid to rest with his daughter at a later date. Memorial donations can be given to Fellowship Baptist Church, in care of Martin Funeral Home, 510 E. Main St., Warrenton, MO 63383.
