Carri Lea Black, nee Simcox, 38, St. Clair, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013, at her home surrounded by the love of her family.
Carri, daughter of Michael Cameron Simcox and wife Donna Jean, nee Gable, was born March 25, 1975, in Creve Coeur. She was united in marriage to Jesse Dale Black April 15, 2006, and one child came to bless this union.
Carri was a Christian of the Lutheran faith and was christened as a young girl at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Clair. She was employed as a manager for Quality Rewards Travel, starting there in June 1995 and retiring after 17 years of service. Carri was a member of the St. Clair Jaycees where she recently served as treasurer. Other interests of hers were scrapbooking and shopping. She loved to play volleyball, go bowling, play cards with family and friends, and attend dance recitals and competitions with her daughter. What meant most to Carri was time spent with her family. The love they shared and many precious memories they created will forever be cherished by them all.
Carri was preceded in death by her mother, Donna Simcox; grandparents, James S. Simcox I and wife Phyllis, and Elmer Gable; grandparents-in-law, George and Faye Hilton, and Ralph and Gladys Black.
She is survived by her husband, Jesse Black, St. Clair; one daughter, Rylea Black, St. Clair; father, Michael Simcox and wife Sue, St. Clair; one brother, James S. Simcox II and wife Lynn, St. Clair; one sister, Tamra Wall and husband Cory, St. Clair; step-siblings, Levi and Jacob Tate, both of St. Clair; grandmother, Alice Gable, St. Clair; parents-in-law, Lee and Judy Black, Lonedell; three nieces; two nephews; aunts; uncles; great-aunts; great-uncles; cousins; other relatives and many friends.
A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, with the Rev. Grady O'Dell officiating.
