Dewey Allgood Jr., 91, Rolla, passed away, Tuesday, April 23, 2013, in Rolla.
He is survived by his wife, Josette Allgood, nee Randall, Rolla; three sons, Ronald Randall, Wyoming state, Donald Randall and wife Kathy, Washington, and David Randall and wife Susan, Jefferson City; two daughters, Sandra Marmaduke and husband Gery, DeSoto, and Susan Currier and husband Clark, Oakville; one brother, Robert Allgood and wife Faye; one sister, Lois Schiffner; nieces; nephews; one brother-in-law; one sister-in-law; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dewey was a coach, mentor and friend to many.
Prior to his arrival in Rolla, Dewey served in World War II
as a member of the U.S. Navy
and served aboard the USS Beatty during the conflict. He was a graduate of North Dakota State University where he was a football, basketball and baseball player. He coached at Northwest Missouri State University before coming to Rolla in 1950.
He was a coach and administrator in Missouri S&T's department of athletics for 40 years and a member of the university's athletic Hall of Fame. He was well-known for his personal concern and care for the many athletes he coached. He built tremendous relationships with the student-athletes during his tenure as well as in the years following his retirement. He will not be forgotten by his family or all the people he has touched throughout his life.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 4, at Christ Episcopal Church, 1000 North Main, Rolla.
