Dolores Marie Guittar Smith, nee Henderson, known to many as "Dee," 84, St. Clair, formerly of Owensville, departed this life in St. Clair Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012.
Dee was born Oct. 22, 1928, the daughter of John Henderson and wife Hazel, nee Mcegue.
In 1946 she was united in marriage to Earl A. Guittar and eight children came to bless this union. On Jan. 1, 1984, she was united in marriage to James Henry Smith.
Dee is survived by five sons, Ronald Guittar and wife Mary, Cocoa, Fla., Brian Guittar and wife Marlene, Washington, Marc Guittar and wife Mary, St. Clair, Barry Guittar, Kirkwood, and Mike Guittar and wife Wendy, New Haven; three daughters, Sylvia Wells, Gerald, Karen Guittar, Kirkwood, and Rosalind Crimi and husband Joe, Florissant; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and -nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.
Dee was preceded in death by her husbands, Earl Guittar and James Smith; parents, John and Marie Henderson; brother, Russell Henderson; one sister.
Dee was a Christian and member of Duly Baptist Church, St. Clair, where she was baptized.
During her working years, she was employed as a warehouse clerk for JCPenney, Washington, retiring after 15 years of service.
She was an active, outgoing lady who enjoyed many hobbies and interests during her life. She loved children and even enjoyed a good game of poker. She was an avid reader and loved to travel with family and friends. Above all else, nothing made Dee happier than the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. The love they shared and the many wonderful memories created will be cherished by them all.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at Countryside Memorial Gardens, Owensville, with the Rev. Darren Perkins officiating.
