Robert Paul Kieffer, 69, Labadie, passed away Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, in Labadie.
Bob graduated from St. Louis University in 1966. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army
as a first lieutenant during the Vietnam War
. Bob had a lifetime commitment supporting homeless veterans and was honored at the White House by President Ronald Reagan. He was a financial planner and partner at St. Louis Financial Planners, Inc. for 25 years. His passion for fine arts, history, poetry and literacy inspired him to support the education of persons with literacy problems. Bob will be remembered for his great sense of humor and understanding of people. He was in the process of writing a book about families based on his experiences growing up on Flora Place.
Bob was the beloved husband of Brenda (nee Melton) Kieffer; loving father of Melanie (Nathan) Ziebatree, Todd (Sunny) Kieffer, Paul Kieffer, Meagan Kieffer and Jordan (Amanda) Kingston; loving grandfather of Raine, Isaiah, Gavrielle, Samson, Madalyn and Emelia; dear brother of Thomas (Carol) Kieffer and the late Richard Kieffer, Barbara (Anthony) Miceli and Allen Kieffer; former husband of Mary Jane (nee Hamacher) Kieffer; dear brother-in-law; uncle; great-uncle; cousin; and friend.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, at O'Sullivan-Muckle Mortuary, Chesterfield. Visitation will conclude with a prayer service led by Pastor Paul Scheperle at 7:30 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Normandy.
Interment will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, St. Louis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Wounded Warriors or Life Stream Church Fine Arts program.
