Vernetia M. Abel(1923 - 2014)

Vernetia Melva Tynes Abel, 90, departed this life Saturday, April 5, 2014, at her place of residence, Cedarcrest Manor, Washington.

Vernetia, daughter of the late Virgil Lowell Tynes and wife Oma Mildred, nee Baker, was born Nov. 18, 1923, in Maries County, near Belle. She attended Belle High School. She was united in marriage to Warren Theodore Abel Nov. 11, 1942, at Belle. To this union, one daughter was born. They divorced in April 1965.

Vernetia was a Christian, and member of First Christian Church, Belle. During her working career, she was employed as a dental assistant for about four years. Vernetia was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 203, Belle. She also was a member of the Belle Homemakers Club. She resided most of her life at her home in Belle. During later years, she resided at Victorian Manor, Vienna, and more recently, at Cedarcrest Manor, Washington.

Vernetia is survived one daughter, Pamela Cox and husband James, St. Clair; one granddaughter, Angela Beeson and husband Randy, O'Fallon; two great-grandsons, Joshua Beeson and wife Cindy, St. Peters, and Matthew Beeson and wife Andra, OFallon; two great-great-grandchildren, Collin Beeson and Olivia Beeson, OFallon; and cousins.

Vernetia was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil Lowell and Oma Mildred Tynes; and one infant sister, Delores Tynes.

A graveside service was held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, at High Gate Cemetery, St. James, with Pamela Cox officiating.

Memorials may be given to the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 96, St. Clair.

The family of Vernetia Abel entrusted the care of their loved one to Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair.
