Bernice Ann Iliff, nee Jacobs, 79, Warrenton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at Progress West Hospital, O'Fallon.|
She was the youngest of 10 children born to Harry Jacobs and wife Mary, nee Mullahey, Jan. 25, 1934, in Clinton, Iowa.
Bernice was united in marriage to Stewart Melvin Iliff Dec. 28, 1955, in Clinton, Iowa. She was the co-owner and bookkeeper for Stewart's drug store in Warrenton. Bernice also was active in her church parish. She truly enjoyed life and was happiest at family gatherings. As a devoted mother, Bernice cared and nurtured her children throughout her life.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Stewart Iliff, Warrenton; one son, Kent Iliff and wife Barb, St. Peters; two daughters, Laura Nutter and husband Gordon, Warrenton, and Lynn Onstot and husband Steve, Joplin; five grandchildren, Shamus, Shauna, Sarah, Brett and Monica; four great-grandchildren; one niece, who moved in with the family in 1965, Leslie James and husband Todd, Davenport, Iowa; Leslie's four children; one brother, Francis; one sister, Therese; many other relatives and friends.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Mary Jacobs; and seven siblings, Dick, Edwin and Barney Jacobs, Mary Ellen Clark, Earl, Don and Paul Jacobs.
A visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 12, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Warrenton.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
