Betty J. Thomure, nee Becker, 80, Washington, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, in New Haven.|
Betty, daughter of the late Edgar Becker and wife Rose, nee Koch, was born March 15, 1933, in Washington. She received her education from Immanuel Lutheran School. She was united in marriage to Marvin Thomure Aug. 4, 1979, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Washington. Betty worked as a waitress for over 30 years at Tri-County truck stop and restaurant, Villa Ridge.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Thomure; parents, Edgar and Rose Becker; two brothers, Henry Becker and Clifford Becker; and one sister, Winona Yenzer.
She is survived by five children, Debra Oberndorfer and husband Darwin, Ronnie Nixon and wife Denise, all of Washington, Linda Smreker and husband John, Leslie, Kathy Thomure and husband Kenny, Rosebud, and Karen Branson and husband Ronnie, New Haven; three stepchildren, Paula Monehan and husband Gary, Villa Ridge, Tom Thomure and special friend Linda Krausch, Washington, and Roger Thomure and wife Faye, Rosebud; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held Friday, Feb. 28, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Washington, with the Rev. Mark Bangert officiating.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Washington.
The Thomure family was served by Nieburg-Vitt Funeral Home, Washington.
