Betty L. Pursley-Friend, nee Mills, 78, Bourbon, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Mercy Hospital Washington surrounded by her children.|
Betty was born Oct. 31, 1934, in Washington, the daughter of the late Eugene Mills Sr. and wife Edith, nee Baker. She was a caring and loving mother to her five children, and a proud and devoted grandmother and great-grandmother.
Easter and Christmas were very important to Betty, and she loved to have the whole family together for those important holidays. Betty spent most of her life helping people in any way she could, volunteering at the American Legion with the Ladies Auxiliary, and had a wonderful time playing bingo with her many friends.
Betty is survived by her former husband, Wayne Pursley Sr.; four sons, Bud Pursley and wife Cherry, Crocker, John Pursley and wife Darlene, Lonedell, David Pursley and wife Vickie, Marthasville, and Ronnie Pursley and wife Mary, Stanton; one daughter, Sandra DeClue and husband Ron, Bourbon; one brother, Orville R. Mills Sr., Washington; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two siblings, Vernita Schneider and Eugene Mills Jr.; one grandson, John Pursley Jr.; and other relatives.
Visitation was at Miller Funeral Home, Washington, Friday, March 29, from 3 to 8 p.m.
A funeral service was held Saturday, March 30, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment followed in the Presbyterian Cemetery, Washington.
Memorial donations to the March of Dimes are preferred.
The family was served by Miller Funeral Home, Washington.
