Bobby Ray Sohn, known to many as Poppy, 78, St. Clair, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family.

Bobby, son of the late Clarence William Sohn and wife Frances Sarah, nee Landing, was born Dec. 27, 1934, in St. Clair. As a young man, he was blessed to have three children. He was united in marriage to Katherine Ann Vossbrink, nee Farmer, June 27, 1980. One child came to bless this union, and their families were joined as one.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence William and Frances Sarah Sohn; one brother, Claude Sohn; and one infant sister, Joyce Sohn.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine Ann Sohn, St. Clair; two sons, Marty Sohn, Houston, Texas, and David Sohn, St. Louis; two daughters, Bonnie Sohn, Bourbon, and Donna Brantley and husband Glenn, Pearland, Texas; three step- children, Douglas Vossbrink and wife Vicki, Port Orchard, Wash., Duane Vossbrink and wife Christine, Merrimack, N.H., and Dana Dougherty and husband Donald, St. Clair; mother-in-law, Catherine Hayes, St. Clair; one brother, Paul Sohn and wife Ida, Cuba, Mo.; two sisters, Doris Dierker and Deanne Sohn, both of St. Clair; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two aunts; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; great-nieces and -nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.

Bobby was a Christian, believing in the Lord as his Savior, and had most recently attended Anaconda Baptist Church, St. Clair. During his working years, he was employed at Von Weise Gear, St. Clair, retiring as a supervisor after 29 years of service. Bobby was an outdoorsman at heart. Hunting and fishing were his favorite pastimes, especially when his family was with him. He also enjoyed working in his yard and hunting mushrooms in the spring. Nothing made him happier than the time he spent with his children and grandchildren, as each of them were his pride and joy. Many wonderful memories have been created and will be cherished forever.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home, St. Clair, with the Rev. Jim Watson officiating.

Burial was in Anaconda Cemetery, St. Clair.

Memorials may be made to Davita, a dialysis center in Washington.
