Bruce Taylor Clemonds Sr., 90, Jonesburg, passed away Monday, May 12, 2014, in Jefferson City.|
Bruce was born March 5, 1924, in Pembroke, Mass., the son of Roland Clemonds and wife Lydia, nee Foster. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. During his working years, Bruce was a St. Charles County Sheriff's Deputy, police officer for O'Fallon and Wentzville, and the Chief of Police in Jonesburg. He finished his career as a security guard for Innsbrook.
Bruce was united in marriage to Ebba Travers April 26, 1947, in Hanover, Mass. He was a member of Jonesburg VFW. Bruce was fond of saying, "I remember always being churched."
He is survived by two sons, Bruce Clemonds Jr. and wife Denise, Jefferson City, and Roland Clemonds and wife Fran, Montgomery City; six daughters, Aldona Clemonds, Collinsville, Ill., Mae Hull and husband Robert, St. Charles, Brenda Burdess and husband Richard, Pensacola, Fla., Kaye Gresham and husband Charles, Darlene Callaway and husband Ronald, all of O'Fallon, and Ebba Bearce, Hillsboro; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Bruce was preceded in death by his wife, Ebba Clemonds; parents, Roland and Lydia Clemonds; one brother, Burton Clemonds; and two sisters, Doris Dries and Lucille Ells.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, May 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Pitman Funeral Home, 106 W. Lions, Jonesburg.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 17, at 10:30 a.m. at Jonesburg Christian Church, Jonesburg.
Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Jonesburg.
Memorials to Warren County Senior Center, in care of Pitman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 126, Warrenton, MO 63383 are preferred.
