1934 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
Carl H. Gumpenberger Sr., 84, Rosebud, passed away Friday, June 22, 2018.

Carl, son of the late George G. Gumpenberger and wife Ethel, nee Owens, was born April 14, 1934, in Washington. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from Nov. 1, 1955, to Oct. 15, 1961. He was united in marriage to Lyndell Moman Jan. 24, 1954. The couple made their home at Camp Lejuene in North Carolina while Carl was in the Marine Corps. After his discharge, they made their home in Union. They moved to Rosebud in 2008. He was employed at Brown Shoe Factory, McQuay Norris, Esselte Pendaflex, and retired from SKF. Carl loved the outdoors, especially watching and taking pictures of wildlife, feeding the fish in his pond, and camping and boating on the river. He loved the Lord and was a great caretaker of his wife and family.

Carl is survived by his wife, Lyndell Gumpenberger, Rosebud; two daughters, Melinda Cash, Rosebud, and Deanna Howard and husband Don, Robertsville; one son, Skippy Gumpenberger, Union; four grandchildren, Lesley Lawyer, Christopher Meyer II, Danny Cash and Jackie Tobben; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Donna Jean Patke, Union, Laverne Littrell and husband Don Beirow, Arizona state, and Sally Blue and husband Herb, Illinois state; one brother, David Gumpenberger and wife Joyce, Union; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one son, Randy Gumpenberger; one granddaughter, Dawn Gumpenberger; one grandson, Shane Gumpenberger; his parents; and two brothers, Clarence and George K. Gumpenberger.

Burial, with full military honors, will be held Monday, July 2, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given for the continued care of his beloved wife, Lyndell.
