1928 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
Daniel Charles Armistead, 89, Union, passed away Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, in Union.

Dan, son of the late Charles Henry Armistead and wife Bertha Blanche, nee Cowan, was born March 24, 1928, in Stanton. He received his education in Gray Summit and Washington. Dan served his country in the U.S. Navy, from Jan. 16, 1946, to Nov. 13, 1947. On April 2, 1955, Dan was united in marriage to Miss Jeanette Metcalf, at First Christian Church in Union. Five children were born to this marriage, and they made their home in Union.

Dan worked for many years in the parts department at General Motors dealerships throughout the St. Louis area. Dan was a member of Union American Legion Post 297. He enjoyed gardening, reading and fishing.

Dan is survived by his wife, Jeanette Armistead, Union; three sons, Charlie Armistead, Sacramento, Calif., Bill Armistead, Jefferson City, and Jim Armistead and wife Mary, Washington; two daughters, Janie Armistead, Lawrenceville, Ga., and Susie Hommes and husband Dave, Washington; six grandchildren, Daniel T. Armistead, Kathleen Wills and husband Tyler, Daniel J. Armistead, Rachel Rogers, Matt Thayer and Brendan Thayer; one sister, Violet Weirich, Gray Summit; other relatives and friends.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Margaret Williams and Wanda Ransdell.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, Nov. 21, at noon at Oltmann Funeral Home, Union, with the Rev. Dr. David Beatty officiating.

Burial was in Midlawn Cemetery, Union.

Memorials may be given to Union American Legion Post 297, the or a charity of donor's choice.
