1930 - 2013 Obituary Condolences
Delores A. Walkenhorst, nee Scheer, 82, New Haven, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013, at New Haven Care Center, New Haven.

Delores, daughter of the late Adolph Scheer and wife Helena, nee Ahrnsmeier, was born Aug. 2, 1930, in New Haven. She was united in marriage to Oswald "Ozzie" Walkenhorst Aug. 26, 1951, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, New Haven.

She worked as a sewing machine operator at Langenberg Hat, New Haven for many years and she also was a homemaker. Delores enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking, traveling in the winter months to Texas and spending time with her grandchildren.

Delores was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Bethlehem Lutheran Ladies Aid, LWML, New Haven American Legion Auxiliary and New Haven Fire Department Auxiliary.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Helena Scheer; one brother, Melvin Scheer; and one infant sister.

She is survived by her husband Ozzie, New Haven; two sons, Gene Walkenhorst and wife Terry, Jefferson City, and Gary Walkenhorst and wife Dawn, New Haven; two daughters, Wanda Walkenhorst and Nancy Shockley and husband David, all of New Haven; three sisters-in-law, Mathilda Ohse, Union, Esther Walkenhorst and Luella Scheer, both of New Haven; five grandchildren, Tyler Walkenhorst and wife Brittany, Bethany Marble and husband Tyler, Matthew Walkenhorst, Megan Shockley and Justin Shockley.

Visitation was held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 2 at Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven.

A funeral services was held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 3 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, New Haven, with the Rev. Mark Goucher officiating.

Interment was in the church cemetery.

Donations may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer's Foundation, in care of Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home.
