1941 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
Donald Edward Calvin, 77, Washington, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018, in Union.

Donald was born Feb. 24, 1941, in Labadie, to Marion Calvin and wife Gladys, nee^Johnson. Donald graduated from Western Military Academy in Alton, Ill., in 1960. He proudly served his country in the Missouri National Guard from August 1960, until he was honorably discharged Aug. 14, 1966. He attained the rank of sergeant, and received commendation for rifle marksman. Donald was united in holy matrimony to Anna Rose Noelke May 9, 1964, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Washington. The marriage was blessed with three children.

Donald worked as a machinist at SKF Foundry, and then at Stork Fabricators, until his retirement. Throughout his life, he enjoyed several hobbies such as woodworking, participating in Scouting activities with his grandchildren, building Civil War cannons and puttering in his flower beds. He was an active participant in war re-enactments for over 40 years. Donald was a parishioner of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church and member of American Legion Post 218, where he served on the funeral honors team.

Donald is survived by his wife, Anna Rose Calvin; one son, David Calvin and wife Tina, Washington; two daughters, Michele Wissmann and husband David, and Bridget Gildehaus and husband Dominic, all of Washington; one brother, Steve Calvin and wife Sandy, Florida state; seven grandchildren, Lanie Calvin, Haley Calvin, Devynn Calvin, Joshua Wissmann and wife Samantha, Jessica Wissmann, Dylan Gildehaus and Austin Gildehaus; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dr. Glen Calvin and Ted Calvin.

Visitation was held Monday, June 11, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Oltmann Funeral Home, Washington, with a rosary service at 2:30 p.m.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, June 12, at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Washington, with the Rev. Joseph Wormek officiating.

Burial, with full military honors, followed in the church cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in honor of Donald to St. Francis Borgia Grade School or St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church.

The Calvin family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Washington.
