Eileen B. Hillerman, nee Schlitt, 78, Washington, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019.

Eileen was born Jan. 26, 1940, in Krakow, to Joseph Schlitt and wife Lidwina, nee Brinker. She received her education at St. Francis Borgia Grade School and St. Francis Borgia High School. Eileen was united in holy matrimony to Bernard A. Hillerman Oct. 11, 1958, in Krakow, and the couple made their home in Krakow, later moving to Washington in 2004. The marriage was blessed with two daughters.

Eileen enjoyed a career working at JC Penney for over 20 years, and then for the Washington School District for 15 years. She was a member of St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Krakow, where she was active with the Ladies Sodality, quilters and prayer chain. Eileen also was active in her community as a 4-H leader, played water volleyball and pickleball at the YMCA, participated in the Silver Games playing pinochle, and cooked for the Lions Club weekly meetings for many years. She enjoyed a variety of interests, including crocheting, traveling with family and taking bus trips to meet friends. Eileen loved every opportunity she had to spend time with her family and cherished the time she had with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bernard Hillerman, Washington; two daughters, Judy Searcy and husband Fred, and Debbie Schroeder and husband Paul, all of Washington; six grandchildren, Dustin Searcy (Rebecca), Dr. Garrett Searcy (Jill), Alec Searcy, Andrea Klein (Ryan), Hannah Byrne (Austin) and Austin Schroeder; five great-grandchildren, Julia, Payton, Emmitt, Clark and Pearl; four sisters, Marcie Frankenberg, Marilyn Boehm, Rita Wilson and husband Chuck, all of Washington, and Dottie Baker and husband Chuck, Brookfield, Wis.; one brother, Ken Schlitt and wife Pat, Union; two sisters-in-law, Irene Hillerman, Washington, and JoAnn Hillerman, Columbia; one brother-in-law, Ray Hillerman and wife Jonell, Washington; other relatives and friends.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 11 a.m. at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Krakow, with the Rev. Phil Krill officiating.

Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in honor of Eileen to or the St. Gertrude Endowment Fund.
