Eleanor B. Fleer Obituary
Eleanor Berniece Fleer, nee Webber, 90, Washington, passed away Friday, June 8, 2018, in Washington.

Eleanor was born Jan. 30, 1928, in St. Clair, to Carl Webber and wife Wilma, nee Zahrndt. Eleanor attended school in Union and graduated from Union High School in 1946. She then attended Southwest Missouri State University, and graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 1963. She was united in holy matrimony to Elmer Fleer June 2, 1951, at Zion United Church of Christ in Union. The couple made their home in Washington, and were blessed with two sons.

Eleanor enjoyed a long, successful career as a second-grade schoolteacher for the Union R-XI School District, and retired from teaching in 1982. She remained active in her community after retirement as a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Franklin County School Employees, Missouri Retired Teachers Association and the Jaycee Wives. She and her husband were also active members of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Washington.

Eleanor is survived by her husband, Elmer Fleer, Washington; two sons, Dave Fleer and wife Sandra, and Daryl Fleer and wife Jane, all of Washington; four grandchildren, Scott Fleer and wife Christine, Kate Baker and husband Ben, Bryan Fleer and wife Amber, and Kim Fleer; three great-grandchildren, Mazie, Lexi and Ellie Mae; one sister, Norma Schroeder, Union; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Lois Webber.

Visitation was held Sunday, June 10, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Oltmann Funeral Home, Washington.

A funeral service was held Monday, June 11, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Washington, with the Rev. Gary Schulte officiating.

Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in honor of Eleanor to St. Peter's Atrium Fund or Mercy Hospice Washington.

The Fleer family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Washington.
