Ella C. Birkmann, 92, New Haven, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, at New Haven Care Center.|
Mrs. Birkmann was born in Berger March 9, 1920, the daughter of the late Herman Scheible and wife Louise, nee Meyer.
She was united in marriage to Milford Birkmann Dec. 20, 1941, at Stony Hill.
Mrs. Birkmann is survived by her husband, Milford Birkmann, New Haven; son, Harvey Birkmann and wife Dorothy, Union; two daughters, Dorothy Frueh and husband Frank, Washington, and Peggy Scego, New Haven; sister, Selma Bonnarens, New Haven; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Louise Scheible; son-in-law, Donald Scego; four brothers, Walter, Arthur, Herman and Elmer Scheible; four sisters, Elsie Birkmann, Louise Kreftmeyer, Esther Stephan and Mathilda Scheible; and one grandson, Darren Scego.
Mrs. Birkmann started her working career at Missouri Meerschaum Pipe Factory, Washington. She then later drove a taxicab in Washington. After that, Mrs. Birkmann worked at Langenberg Hat Factory, Berger, from which she retired.
Funeral services were held at Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven, Saturday, Oct. 6, with Anne Chida officiating.
Burial was in Oak Haven Memorial Gardens, Hermann.
