Ila M. Steutermann Obituary
Ila M. Steutermann, nee Heger, 79, Weldon Spring, passed away Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital, Chesterfield.

Ila was born May 14, 1939, in St. Louis, to Armin F. Heger and wife Myrtle M., nee Gibbons. She was the beloved wife of Milton Steutermann. Ila grew up in Augusta and moved to several different cities around the country, including Dallas, Texas; Downingtown, Pa.; Chicago, Ill.; and her most recent residence, Weldon Spring.

She had many passions in life. Ila was a supporter of first responders, an advocate of animals and wildlife, and a master seamstress. She had a great appreciation for history and became an expert at refurbishing antiques. This passion drove her to become a successful business owner of her own antique store. In addition to antiques, Ila was a sports enthusiast and was a very competitive basketball player in high school. Her competitive side did not fade with age. She became an international bridge competitor and a champion bowler. Ila willingly organized and planned the preparations for her golf and bridge leagues.

She cherished her marriage with her husband Milt and devoted her life to raising her children. Ila supported her children in everything they were involved in, including being a Cub Scout den mother, an assistant Little League baseball coach and a 24/7 cheerleader for all of her children's sporting events. Ila loved her family and was fascinated with her heritage, so she became her family's historian. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Ila is survived by her husband, Milton Steutermann, Weldon Spring; two sons, Steve Steutermann, Mason, Ohio, and Kirk Steutermann, Weldon Spring; daughter, Kim Steutermann (Eric) Rogers, Kauai, Hawaii; and sister, Judith Paul, Oxford, Miss.

She was preceded in death by her father, Armin F. Heger; mother, Myrtle M. Heger; brother, Wayne Heger; and brother-in-law, Randall Paul.

Visitation was scheduled for Friday, Aug. 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ, Weldon Spring.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Aug. 11, at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer United Church of Christ, Augusta.

Interment will follow in Augusta City Cemetery, Augusta.

Donations may be made to St. John's UCC in Weldon Spring, in care of Pitman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 248, Wentzville, MO 63385.

The family is being served by Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville.
