James J. Maune Obituary
James J. Maune, 84, Washington, passed away Monday, June 4, 2018, at his home.

Jim, son of the late Aloys Maune and wife Elizabeth, nee Gildehaus, was born Oct. 20, 1933, in Washington. Jim married his loving wife, Shirley Schriewer, Jan. 31, 1953, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church. Jim made a living as a painter, but had a passion for the outdoors, and could often be found hunting or sharing his love of fishing with his grandchildren, teaching them everything he knew. Jim also was involved in the Knights of Columbus and was a fourth-degree knight.

Jim is survived by his wife, Shirley Maune, nee Schriewer; eight children, Kathleen AuBuchon and husband Greg, Princeton, Ind., Keith J. Maune and wife Cheryl A., Krakow, Jamie Lakebrink, New Haven, Cindy Frick and husband Dave, Washington, Dale Maune and wife Dawn, Hermann, Larry Maune and wife Carla, Union, Peggy Adkison and Andy Maune and wife Cheri, all of Washington; five siblings, Armelia Chisholm and Virgil Maune, both of Washington, Betty Schmuke, Beaufort, Bert Breckenkamp, Tom Maune and Jane Maune, all of Washington; brothers-in-law, Leonard Piontek, Washington, Ron Schriewer and wife Diane, Richmond, Va., and Ken Schriewer and wife Jane, Washington; sisters-in-law, Shirley Maune, Wildwood, and Katsie Schriewer, St. Charles; 19 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, John Maune; one grandson, Todd Hoelscher; one son-in-law, Jerry Lakebrink; his parents; two brothers, CJ Maune and Whip Maune; and one sister, Gerry Piontek.

Visitation was scheduled for Friday, June 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, Washington, with a Knights of Columbus service and parish rosary at 7:30 pm.

A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, June 9, at 10 a.m. at St. Gertrude^Catholic Church, Krakow.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Masses may be said or memorial donations are appreciated to St. Gertrude School or the Pregnancy Assistance Center.
