James L. Carey Obituary
James L. Carey, 69, Union, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018.

Jimmy lived a full, rich life. He worked at a number of different jobs and participated in the Special Olympics, Exceptional Equestrians, and was active in the music program at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Union. He faced challenges with determination and never let a setback dim his bright smile. He felt joy in small things and spread that joy to everyone around him. A member of his church said that to see Jimmy's face when he sang was to glimpse the love of God.

The son of the late John R. Carey and Sally (McGee) Carey, he was born May 9, 1949, in St. Louis, and grew up on a farm near Robertsville.

He is survived by a brother John Carey Jr.; a sister, Sandra Cody (Pete); nieces, Sherry Carey and Elizabeth Walk; nephews, Peter Cody and David Cody; grandnieces and -nephews; as well as numerous cousins, all of whom will miss his loving heart and sly sense of humor.

The funeral service will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Thursday, July 5, at 3 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1 to 3 pm.

A commital service will be held at Cedar Grove Methodist Church Cemetery, Robertsville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 727 Melinda Drive, Union, MO 63084.

Arrangements are being handled by Nieburg-Vitt Funeral Home, Washington.
