Joseph B. Heimann, 90, Sullivan, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Meramec Nursing Center, Sullivan.|
Joseph, son of the late Lawrence Heimann and wife Margaret, was born Oct. 15, 1922, in Hermann. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Joseph was the owner and operator of J.B. Heimann Construction Company, Sullivan, from 1958 to 1982. He was a loyal St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. He listened to them on the radio, watched on television or read the sports page regarding every game. He and his wife, Betty, also were avid antique collectors for over 60 years.
Joseph was preceded in death by one daughter, Kristina Kaufmann; parents, Lawrence and Margaret Heimann; one sister, Mary Rose Hancock; and one brother, Robert Heimann.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Heimann, Sullivan; two daughters, Gretchen Hermann and husband Don, Old Monroe, and Heidi Wunderlich and husband Rick, Washington; one son, Birk Heimann and friend, Sharon Maness, Sullivan; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A memorial Mass was held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 29, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Sullivan.
Memorials may be given to St. Anthony Catholic Church, Sullivan or the Center for Autism Education, O'Fallon.
The Heimann family was served by Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan.
