LaVerne Neier, nee Vogt, 87, Washington, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013, in Washington, surrounded by her family. |
LaVerne, daughter of the late Harry Vogt and wife Elsie, nee Horn, was born April 18, 1925, in Washington. She was united in marriage to Clarence "Buddy" Neier Sept. 2, 1943, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Washington.
LaVerne worked at Buescher's Wholesale until her children were born. After that, she devoted herself to being a wonderful mother and loving grandmother. She also found time to be active in the church and community, the St. Francis Borgia Quilters, the Royal Neighbors, and volunteering with the local American Diabetes Association chapter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence "Buddy" Neier; one son, Larry Neier; parents, Harry and Elsie Vogt; one sister, Evelyn Beuke; and one brother, Ralph Vogt.
LaVerne is survived by three sons, Lon Neier, Washington, Doug Neier and wife Tracy, St. Louis, and Steve Neier, Indianapolis, Ind.; four daughters, Bonnie Hotz and husband Wayne, Washington, Sheri Neier, St. Louis, Jeanne Damschroeder, New Haven, and Nancy Milford and husband Michael, Arlington, Texas; one brother, John Leonard Vogt, Las Vegas, Nev.; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Sunday, April 14, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, Washington.
A funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 15, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Washington.
Burial was private.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Francis Borgia Regional High School Athletic Association.
The Neier family was served by Miller Funeral Home, Washington.
