Lavina L. Dakan Obituary
Lavina Lee Dakan, nee Youtsey, 87, Washington, passed away Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at Delmar Gardens, O'Fallon.

Lavina, daughter of the late Lewis Youtsey and wife Thelma, nee DeLay, was born Aug. 30, 1930, in Coffe. Lavina grew up in Gallatin and Tarkio. She graduated from Tarkio High School. Lavina received her L.P.N. certificate from nursing school in St. Joseph, and worked as a nurse for 32 years. On April 1, 1951, Lavina was united in marriage to Mr. Clarence Dakan, and three children were born to this marriage. They moved to Washington in 1993.

She was an active member of First Christian Church in Washington, and participated in services at Sunrise Methodist Church in O'Fallon, while staying at Delmar Gardens. She was a past president of the Golden Agers at the Christian church. She loved attending activities at the Washington Senior Center. Throughout her life, Lavina enjoyed painting and being an evangelistic Christian, even at the nursing home, telling of the good news and works of Jesus.

Lavina is survived by three daughters, Barbara Allen and husband Richard, Washington, Cheryl Williams and husband Richard, Weldon Spring, and Pamela Streeter and husband Steven, Longmont, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and 11 greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Dakan, and her parents.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Oltmann Funeral Home, Washington, with the Rev. Dave Armstrong officiating.

A graveside service, with her casket, was held Wednesday, Feb. 28, in High Ridge Cemetery, Stanberry.

Memorials may be given to First Christian Church, Washington or Sunrise Methodist Church, in O'Fallon.

The Dakan family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home, Washington.
