1933 - 2018 Obituary Condolences
LeRay Crumes, 85, Wentzville, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at St. Joseph Health Center, West Lake Saint Louis.

LeRay was born Jan. 29, 1933, in Wentzville, the son of Bevel Crumes and wife Gusta. He was the beloved husband of Cecilia Crumes, nee Luckett. Le-Ray accepted Christ at an early age and was a loyal servant. He loved to read his Bible and you could always hear him saying, "I love the Lord Jesus Christ." LeRay was a member of Wesley Smith United Methodist Chapel, Wright City, and held many positions in the church.

He served our country in the Army during the Korean War as a paratrooper. After the war, LeRay worked as a construction laborer. He enjoyed hunting, building and gardening, and had an artistic talent for drawing. Above all, LeRay loved his family, people in general and especially his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

LeRay is survived by his sister, Darlene (Ernest) Simon, Eolia; brother, Vincent Crumes, Flint Hill; two sons, Kevin Crumes and Keith (Flora) Crumes, all of O'Fallon; two daughters, Brenda (Henry) Davis and Barbara Ann (Anthony) Love, all of Wentzville; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cecilia Crumes; father, Bevel Crumes; mother, Gusta Crumes; sister, Lorrine Buffington; three brothers, Alvin Crumes, Elroy Crumes and Wilbert Crumes; and son, Kenneth Crumes.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 5, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Pitman Funeral Home, 1545 Wentzville Parkway, Wentzville.

A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Saturday, also at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Eternal Peace Cemetery, Wentzville.
