Lillian A. Tobben, nee Kleekamp, 84, Washington, passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, Washington.|
Lil, daughter of the late Frederick Kleekamp and wife Catherine, nee Sieve, was born Feb. 4, 1929, in Washington. She received her education from St. John's-Gildehaus School. She was united in marriage to Vernon Tobben Feb. 18, 1950, at St. Francis Borgia Church. Lil worked for Budweiser-Marquart Distributing and Unnerstall Accounting. She was a member of St. Francis Borgia Parish and the Ladies Sodality.
Lil was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Catherine Tobben and Julia Marie Tobben; parents, Frederick and Catherine Kleekamp; and nine siblings, Raymond Kleekamp, in infancy, Arthur Kleekamp, Lorene Kreienbaum, Bernard Kleekamp, Clem Kleekamp, Leo Kleekamp, Wilfred Kleekamp, Ralph Kleekamp and Hubert Kleekamp.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon Tobben, Washington; five children, Dave Tobben and wife Lucy, Don Tobben and wife Sharon, and Pete Tobben and wife Judy, all of Washington, Chris Prater and husband Curt, Jefferson City, and Tish Nester and husband Gerard, St. Louis; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Cecelia Kleekamp, Bob and Mary Tobben, Arlene Zoellner, Marlene Tobben and Rita Struckhoff, all of Washington; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.
A Mass of Christian burial was held Tuesday, Feb. 4 at St. Francis Borgia Church. Officiating and celebrating the Mass were the Rev. Brian Hecktor, the Rev. Mike Boehm, Monsignor Mike Turek, Monsignor Jack Costello, and the Rev. Joseph Wormek.
