Lillian "Judy" Atherton Obituary
Lillian "Judy" Atherton, nee Swyers, 67, St. Clair, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014, in St. Clair.

Judy, daughter of the late Ernest Swyers and wife Ruby, nee Wright, was born May 8, 1946, in Steelville. She was united in marriage to Sherman "Terry" Atherton June 24, 1978, in Arnold.

Judy worked as a cook with Chartwells at St. Clair R-13 School, from 1994 to 2013. She was an avid fan of baseball, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren in the outdoors. In her spare time, she loved camping, boating, dancing and relaxing by planting flowers in her garden. As a dedicated hard worker, she always gave a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

Judy is survived by one son, Sherman Kit Atherton and wife Amanda, Robertsville; two daughters, Tricia Mills and husband Jim, St. Clair, and Tami Atherton and partner Steve Mesa, Pacific; two sisters, Sonja Arnell, and Janet Owens and husband Tom, all of Dittmer; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Mesa, Tiffany Mesa, Melissa Mills, Noah Mills, Lexis Butler, Dominik Atherton and Tyson Atherton; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman "Terry" Atherton; parents, Ernest and Ruby Swyers; and two brothers, Marion Swyers and Ernest R. Swyers.

Visitation was held from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, April 18, at Midlawn Funeral Home, Union.

A funeral service followed, beginning at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment was at Midlawn Memorial Gardens, Union.

Memorial donations may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
